Our exclusive rocks and crystals

The only authorized seller of Huanzala Pyrite from Peru

Since January 2020 Gemrock Peru S.A.C. has the permanent exclusive rights for the global sale of Pyrite from the famous Huanzala mine in the Huallanca District, Áncash, Peru.

Be aware: When buying from not authorized Peruvian providers products may become confiscated, with clients loosing their investment.

Be cautious: There are Peruvian companies mixing Pyrite from Trujillo province with real Huanzala pyrite and then sell the entire lot as Huanzala pyrite.

Pyrite from Trujillo has a very high content of arsenic and is a toxic material, that may put the health of your clients at risk.

At first glance, objects made from Trujillo pyrite may look the same as Huanzala pyrite. However, you can easily distinguish both: Have a look at unpolished parts. While Huanzala pyrite has a clean golden color, Trujillo pyrite shows black patches.

After just a few months, the shine of the polished Trujillo pyrite will disappear and the material will blacken. This material is not only a danger to health it will also lead to complaints from your clients and damage your companies’ image.

We advise you to work only with recommended dealers of serious companies. Gemrock Peru is the only authorized dealer for Huanzala Pyrite and can provide certificates of origin if requested. All other Huanzala Pyrite has been extracted illegally from the mine. We are happy to provide you with information if a dealer offering you Huanzala Pyrite is one of our clients.

Peruvian Rosophia

“Rosophia” is not a mineral designated by the International Mineralogy Union. Rather it is a brand name invented by Mr. Robert Simmons, founder of the company “Heaven and Earth”.

In 2017, representatives of the Gemrock Peru company discovered a Rosophia deposit in the desert of Ica, Peru, near Paracas, being the place where the Paracas Culture lived, famous for its underground burials, its tissues and the prolonged skulls of which some say they have extraterrestrial origins.

Gemrock Peru is the only supplier of Peruvian Rosophia.

Peruvian Black Iris Opal

Peruvian pink aragonite

Peruvian pink aragonite® is so far know to only a few peruvian lapidary carvers but has not been promoted so far in foreign countries, as it is very rare and hard to acquire. The fact however, that this mineral is phosphorescent  has been recently discovered by Gemrocks general manager, Stefan Austermühle. The white layers of the pink aragonite®  do emit a very strong white light when under UV-impact. However when the light is switched off, the mineral shows an intense green afterglow that takes several seconds to dimm out. We are in process of acquiring more of this mineral in order to introduce this fascinating rock to the world.

Caramel®

Caramel® was discovered in the Peruvian coastal desert in 2019 and so far we dont know exactly what kind of a mineral it is. Caramel® produces beautifully polished products featuring colourscales of browns, sometimes mixed with black. Caramel® is posphorescent. Under UV-light impact it shows the emission of white light creating an increased contrast. When the UV light is switched of one can note a green afterglow.

Peruvian coati aragonite

Peruvian coati aragonite® is a beautiful material made up of brown, reddish, yellowish and white layers.

It remembered us of the striped tail of the south-american Coatí. So we named the stone after this threatened species. A great opportunity to raise awareness for the importance of the protection of this species.

The white layers of the coati aragonite®  do emit a very strong white and even blueish light when under UV-impact. However when the light is switched off, the mineral shows an intense green and reddish afterglow that takes several seconds to dimm out. We are in process of acquiring more of this mineral in order to introduce this fascinating rock to the world.
