Crystal Wholesale
for our clients in India
What is the MOQ for shipments to India?
The Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) for ocean freight from Peru to India is 500 kg.
What port are you shipping to?
We are normally shipping to the port Jawaharlal Nehru (Nhava Sheva).
Can you ship directly to my city in India?
In theory, we could ship to cities like Jaipur, Khambhat, or other cities. However, if our Peruvian shipping agent had to subcontract Indian service providers, this would be very expensive. In order to get the best price on shipping, we recommend that you hire an Indian shipping agent who takes over from our agent upon arrival in Nhava Sheva.
Can you send a free sample?
Sadly, we can not send free samples. Airfreight from Peru to India is so expensive (up to 70 USD / kilo = 6200 Rupees / kilo) that this is impossible.
Can I make a smaller order than 500 kg?
Sadly, it is not possible to make a smaller order than 500 KG in crystal wholesale for clients from India. In Peru, ocean shipping is only possible from 500 kg on upwards. A smaller order would have to be shipped by air, and that is by far too expensive. If you cannot make a 500 kg order we recommend that you join with some other Indian crystal shops and make an order together.
Do you sell jewelry to India?
We would love to. Sadly, the Indian government in 2025 did restrict the importation of jewelry from other countries in order to protect the Indian jewelry production. Therefore, it is currently not possible to sell jewelry to India.
We hope that this might change in the future when the Peru/India Free Trade Agreement is signed.
Shipping logistics for crystal wholesale to India
- All our prices are EXW.
- Bulk wholesale shipping (MOQ 500 Kg) is ocean freight.
- If you use your own shipping agent, we charge a logistics fee on top of the product price. The logistics fee covers: pallet cost, hygienic certification of pallets, pallet packing, and forklift for loading the truck of your shipping agent.
- If you use shipping through Gemrock, your shipping cost covers all costs from our company in Lima, Peru, to the port in Jawaharlal Nehru (Nhava Sheva). Our cost includes: pallets, hygienic certification of pallets, pallet packing, shipping logistics management, local transport from our company to port, Peruvian customs procedures, port storage, ocean shipping, and insurance.
- Upon arrival in your country’s port, our shipping agent will transfer the shipment to your shipping agent. We are not in charge of any shipment-related costs or customs procedures in your country.
Your benefits in shipping with Gemrock
- Get the best price. We are working directly with a wholesale shipping agent. Normally, this company only sells to retail shipping agents who then sell to the companies that want to ship goods. By working with us, you eliminate intermediary costs and get the best price.
- Faster shipping. In our experience, working with shipping agents from our clients often increases the time required. This is because often the shipping agent has no experience with our type of products. Working through Gemrock speeds up procedures.
- Expert knowledge provides more safety. According to our research, about 60% of crystal shipments from Peru are leaving the country with the wrong HS codes, leading to higher taxes being paid by the client. We work with an experienced professional customs agent in order to avoid such problems for you.
Payment conditions for crystal wholesale to India
- All our prices are EXW and in USD.
- Our prices are valid for 7 days after we sent you our quote. You have to initiate the payment process during this period. For later payments total price will be adjusted to changes in the exchange rate.
- If you choose to ship through us, shipping costs will be added to product costs.
- We require a 50% upfront payment when you place your order.
- The remaining 50 % will be due when your product has been produced and packed (before shipping). We do not ship goods before the payment has been completed.
- We do NOT work with letters of credit.
- If your bank uses intermediary banks, which will charge SWIFT fees (resulting in less money arriving on our account), you will have to assume those costs.
- By placing an order, you agree to the following: In case of exchange rate variations bigger than 2 % during the time of production (time between first payment and final payment), the total price and final payment will be adjusted to the current exchange rate.
- All payments have to be made in USD.
Indian importers now need a Certificate of Origin.
The Indian customs service started in 2025 to require a Certificate of Origin.
Be careful in case you plan to work with other Peruvian providers. Make sure that they provide you with a real certificate and not a fake one.
In Peru, the only institution that can provide valid Certifications of Origin to Peruvian exporters is the Chamber of Commerce in Lima. To obtain a certificate, Peruvian exporters like us need to be able to provide several contracts and documents. Not all exporters can do that.
Buying from an exporter who can not provide a real Certificate of Origin may cause problems with Indian customs.
The Chamber of Commerce in Lima charges a fee for Certificates of Origin. This fee will be added on top of the product price.
Get the best price
We sell globally to multiple continents. We have many clients in India. We know that India is a highly competitive market where securing the best price is crucial. Therefore, our prices in crystal wholesale for clients from India are up to 25 % lower than our bulk wholesale prices to other continents.
Why we do NOT like endless price negotiations:
We understand our Indian clients. Negotiating prices is a must. Nevertheless, at Gemrock, we are NOT open to prolonged and insistent price negotiations. Here is why:
We already designed our prices in crystal wholesale for clients from India to be much lower than prices for clients in other continents by greatly reducing our profit margins. There is just not more space left to negotiate.
The only way to give an even better price is to provide our clients with lower quality or to save money by reducing the quality of our cleaning of the Pyrite (saving labor costs). Both are standard practices of our Peruvian competitors. You might be getting a better price, but you will also get lower quality.
We might reduce our prices a little if you make big orders (10 tons or more), but do not expect huge discounts. It’s just not possible.
You still need a better price?
Here is a proposal. If you wish, you can buy the pyrite in 50-kilo sacks unwashed, as it comes from the mine. Then you do the acid washing yourself. Labor costs in India are much cheaper than in Peru. We are happy to explain to you how to wash the pyrite yourself. This way, you can get your pyrite at a very low price.
However, you must be aware of the risk involved with that:
When pyrite comes from the mine, there will always be a mix of qualities. You will get spark quality, but there will also be lower quality in the sacks. And there will also be higher quality. The miners do not sort very carefully, so you get a mix. When you buy from us at a higher price, we carry the risk. We sort out the bad material and only send you what you ordered. When you buy unwashed, you get whatever comes from the mine. The sacks go straight onto your pallet. We do not even open them.
The pyrite will not come sorted by size. You will get a certain percentage of small pyrite stones, and you will also get stones that are too big (then you have to invest labor time to hammer them down to the size you want). If you buy from us at a higher price, we carry that cost. You get exactly the price range you need.
The pyrite will not come nicely packed in boxes and wrapped in paper. You will get a sack as it comes from the mine. Be aware of the fact that at least 5% of the total weight will be dust and dirt. When you buy from us at a higher cost, we carry the cost of the dust and dirt that cannot be used. When you buy unwashed, this percentage is your loss.
Why is our pyrite so expensive?
Even though we are saying you get the best price, you may find that our prices in crystal wholesale for clients from India are higher than some sales prices in India. Here is the reason:
After 10 years of exchange rate stability, the value of the USD is since june 2025 in free fall. Over the last 5 months, the value of the USD fell from 1 USD = 3.75 Peruvian Soles to 1 USD = 3.37 USD (now: end of october 2025). That means we now get 11% less Soles for each USD you pay to us. At the same time, prices in Peru are rising.
Therefore, we must increase our prices to balance out the value loss of the USD.
Currently, Indian dealers who bought their pyrite in Peru half a year ago can sell it cheaper than you can when buying pyrite today.
However, this accumulated cheap pyrite in India will be sold at some point. And then prices on the Indian market will go up too.
Does that mean you should wait?
No, on he contrary. Economists in Peru do foresee that the USD value will keep falling more and more, at least till July next year. We will get a historically low USD value. That means: It is not going to get better. The longer you wait, the more expensive it will be. Therefore, our recommendation is to buy now (before it gets even more expensive) and to stock the pyrite in India till the price of pyrite on the Indian market goes up because the old pyrite is sold. Then you will have an advantage over your Indian competitors, who waited too long and must restock with even more expensive pyrite.
