About Dumortierite
Dumortierite is a very hard (Mohs hardness of 7) fibrous blue colored aluminium boro-silicate mineral. Historically it has been used in China as an imitation of lapislazuli.
It is used in the manufacture of high grade porcelain. It is sometimes mistaken for sodalite and has been used as imitation lapis lazuli.
